ABOUT TAPWA

 

Tamilnadu Physiotherapist Welfare Association (TAPWA) is formed for the welfare and upliftment of the physiotherapist throught Tamilnadu.

           

            This is neither a religious/caste/creed nor a political based one.

 

            The physiotherapists are not forced to join TAPWA. Their membership is based merely on their goodwill. The member of this association is free to be a member  of any other association.

 

            The main aim of TAPWA is to make the Government to foucs on the needs and welfare of the physiotherapists which has been neglected so far. To aid the physiotherapists in getting a better placement for the physiotherapists in both private and government sectors.

 

            In addition to this, TAPWA will continuously struggle to form a council for physiotherapists by requesting the central and state governments.

 

            Aparts from this, TAPWA ensures that any other problem, uncomfortability prevailing in the work and surrounding conditions will be eliminated completely or reduced to the maximum extent by its efforts.

 

            This association is not aginst anyother already exiting association for physiotherapists.

OBJECTIVES

 

 

OBJECTIVES

 

Ø      To insist State / Central Government to form a separate council for physiotherapists.

 

Ø      To appeal State / Central Government to appoint physiotherapists in already exiting vacancies in District hospitals, Taluk G.Hs., Primary health centres.

 

Ø      To take necessary steps in regularizing the salary of the physiotherapists working in private hospitals / private colleges equal to the physiotherapists working in government hospitals and colleges.

 

Ø      Standardizing our profession.

 

Ø      Finding and Eliminating the distance physiotherapy courses and unauthorized institutions.

 

Ø      To aid the member in driving out off their problems in their work and work surroundings.

 

Ø      Ruling out the practice of physiotherapy without physiotherapists.

 

Ø      Giving voice for the students of physiotherapy.

 

Ø      To help the physiotherapists to update their day knowledge in this field by conducting seminars/ conferences periodically.

  

 

Ø      To aid public to be aware of the field of physiotherapy.

TAPWA – for the welfare and upliftment of physiotherapists

     TAPWA’s first meet was held at Asha Nivas Hall, Nungambakkam, Chennai on 7th October 2007. The president of TAPWA, Dr.K.Karthikeyan presided over the meeting. A good number of physiotherapists throughout Tamilnadu actively participated in the meeting. TAPWA also publishes an E-paper titled ‘Physio Talk’. The state general secretary of TAPWA, Dr.E.Vijayakumar, advisor DR.S.Viswanathan, joint secretary Dr.J.Manikandan, and treasurer Dr.Veena and many other physiotherapists played a very vital role in the first meeting of TAPWA. The assistant secretary Dr.E.Kalichezian proposed the vote of thanks.

    Dr.K.Karthikeyan, president of TAPWA told Chennai Plus reporter that during a press meet at Kattumannar Koil on the 20th October 2007, the members of TAPWA appealed the issues such as appointments of PTs all district hospitals, GHs, PHs throughout Tamilnadu and eliminating and regulating the unauthorized institutions and diploma colleges.

   The second meeting of TAAPWA was held at Royal Court in Madurai on 11 November 2007. Vice presidents Dr.K.M.Munikumar, DR.K.Meenakumari, Dr.Vallisubramanian, organizing committee members Dr.P.Nagaraj, Dr.M.Sangeethkumar, Dr.Anand, district coordinators - Dr.Ravikumar (Salem) Dr.Sureshkumar (Trichy), Dr.Balamuragan (Viruthunagar), Dr.M.Jothilingam (Thiruvalllur), Dr.Govindasamy (Pudhukottai) and many physiotherapists attended to the meeting.

   The TAPWA Cuddalore district coordinator, Dr.T.Puratchidasan met the Honourable state health minister Mr.M.R.K Panneer Selvam at his residence at Kattumannarkoil on 7th November 2007 to convey his wishes of behalf of TAPWA for being appointed as health minister.
